ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Operation Shower honored more than 20 military mothers-to-be at an event featuring actress Melissa Joan Hart, continuing the organization’s nearly two-decade mission to support military families.

The St. Louis-based nonprofit has focused on helping military mothers, many of whom face pregnancy while their spouses are deployed overseas.

“When you get the news you’re expecting a bundle, it’s a lot,” said Kati Gooding, a military mother who attended the event.

For military wives, pregnancy often comes with additional challenges. Gooding said her family had moved 1,000 miles away from loved ones, and her husband left during her pregnancy.
