Chennai and Tiruvallur district administrations have declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on Thursday (December 4) as heavy rainfall triggered by the remnants of Cyclone Ditwah continues to lash the region. Educational institutions are closed due to intense downpours and pockets of flooding reported across both districts over the past few days.

Low-lying neighbourhoods in South Chennai remain particularly vulnerable, with several areas experiencing water stagnation. City corporation teams are working across affected localities, deploying pumps to clear accumulated water and keep major roads accessible.
