BOSTON —
Rumeysa Ozturk left a federal courthouse in Boston, Massachusetts, on Thursday, awaiting a decision from an immigration judge about whether or not she can stay in the country.
In the hearing, she asked the judge to re-add her to a database for foreign students so she can get a job.
"For the first time as a scholar, as a woman, I have been denied by education," Ozturk said.
In March, the Tufts graduate student was walking down a street in Somerville when she was arrested by immigration officers.
Ozturk, who's from Turkey, believes she was targeted because she wrote an op-ed article supporting the people of Gaza.
Her detainment sparked protests and rallies outside of Boston's federal courthouse.
Ozturk spent 45 days in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facilit
