BOSTON —

Rumeysa Ozturk left a federal courthouse in Boston, Massachusetts, on Thursday, awaiting a decision from an immigration judge about whether or not she can stay in the country.

In the hearing, she asked the judge to re-add her to a database for foreign students so she can get a job.

"For the first time as a scholar, as a woman, I have been denied by education," Ozturk said.

In March, the Tufts graduate student was walking down a street in Somerville when she was arrested by immigration officers.

Ozturk, who's from Turkey, believes she was targeted because she wrote an op-ed article supporting the people of Gaza.

Her detainment sparked protests and rallies outside of Boston's federal courthouse.
