CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Two West Texas A&M football players received D2CCA Second Team All-Region recognition as the team prepares for its first bowl appearance since 2011.
Junior offensive lineman Kanyon Ives and graduate student quarterback RJ Martinez were both named to the all-region team.
Ives started all 11 games for the Buffs this season and also earned All-Lone Star Conference first team honors. Martinez completed over 65 percent of his passes for 3,715 yards and 33 touchdowns while adding 281 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.
Martinez led all of Division II in passing yards, passing yards per game and total offense this season.
West Texas A&M finished the regular season with a 7-4 record, their best since head coach Josh Lynn took over the program three seasons
