ODESSA TWP, Mich. (WILX) - A Lake Odessa man is in the hospital with serious injuries Thursday night after his car was struck by a train.

According to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were sent to the intersection of Huddle Road and Jordan Lake street around 4:40 p.m. for reports of a crash.

There, deputies found a 1998 Honda Civic traveling northbound on Huddle Road had been struck by an eastbound train.

The driver, a 20-year-old Lake Odessa man, was the vehicle’s only occupant.

He was taken to a nearby hospital with “life-threatening” injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
