TEMPE, Az. (WVLT) - 7th-seeded Tennessee volleyball fell into a 2-0 hole in the opening round of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament on Thursday against Utah State before tying things up at 2-2, forcing a fifth set against the Aggies.
Utah State never trailed in the deciding set. Tennessee pulled within a point at 12-11, before the Aggies closed the match on a 3-0 run.
Starr Williams led Tennessee with 15 kills.
Utah State’s Tierney Barlow led all players with 16 kills.
Following a Sweet 16 run in 2023, Tennessee has now been eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
The Lady Vols close the season with a 20-8 overall record.
