A woman with a heart of gold was awarded a golden throne last night as part of an annual holiday tradition.

The Golden Throne Award, created in 2018 by George Kline, Michael Gaus, Brian Smigielski, and Ned Palka, is a surprise intended to recognize someone in the Lake-Lehman School District who betters the community or is in need of holiday cheer.

Patty Hackling, athletics and attendance secretary at Lake Lehman School District, received the throne this year for her community involvement.

Palka said Hackling always shows up for students, whether it be attending sporting events, volunteering at the school, or remembering the small things about them and their families. Outside of school, she volunteers at the Noxen Rattlesnake Roundup, which benefits the local fire company.
