SCITUATE – In the last 50 years, Public Works Director Kirk Loiselle says he can count on one hand how many snowstorms he was not out plowing and removing snow.
Last month, Loiselle, 70, announced his retirement as DPW director after more than six years on the job. His last day is Jan. 10.
He said he is looking forward to staying in when it snows. That’s not to say he won’t still worry about how safe the roads are for Scituate residents during icy weather, as he stated.
“I’m a worker. I’m geared towards that,” he said.
More than 30 years ago, Loiselle left the DPW, reportedly with some remorse, to take a job at Providence Gas. He said after 13 years at the DPW, he made the change for more money and better benefits. Still, he said he felt remorse for leaving his mentor, former DPW Direc
