A significant incident has been declared and 200 homes have been evacuated following the arrest of two men on suspicion of explosives offences in Derby.

Seven residential roads were cordoned off by police, and an evacuation zone was established after officers stormed a property on Vulcan Street on Thursday, December 4.

Derbyshire Police executed the warrant based on intelligence about materials at the location, subsequently evacuating the neighbouring estate.

Two men, one in his 40s and another in his 50s, were arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and are currently being interrogated in police custody.
