It’s the most wonderful time of the year — just tell yourself that enough times, or knock back enough egg nog, and it’ll come true. But whether the holidays are harried or happy for you, the season is nonetheless upon us, and there are several holiday markets in North Jersey (or just a drive away) with food, crafts and activities to please even the grinchiest among us.
Many, like Augusta’s German Christmas Market and the heralded Christkindlmarkt in Bethletham, Pennsylvania, model themselves after the classic German markets that have pleased folks for centuries. We’re talking hand-made crafts and local vendors yes, but also fresh baked gingerbread, steaming hot cocoa, mulled wine, pretzels, holiday cookies and more foods seemingly designed to please the soul.
