When Mae Whitman relocated to Ireland to film Hallmark Channel’s Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas, she was four months postpartum and alone in another country with a newborn.

“It was so traumatic,” she says of the transition. “It was tough because I didn’t have my partner, who was working in the States.” Whitman welcomed her son, Miles, with actor Carlos Valdes in August 2024 but soon found herself an ocean away from her son’s dad, describing her state at the time as “fragile.”

“[It was] my first time really living out of the country. I was with my four-month-old and tried to just brave this life of figuring out what it was going to look like to raise the baby when I’d never done that before. In a whole new country with no idea what I was doing while I was also trying to do a TV show.”
