The Calcutta High Court on Friday refused to intervene in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Babri Masjid to be built in Murshidabad. It also stated that the responsibility for maintaining peace during this period would rest with the state government.
The High Court was hearing a petition seeking to stop the program of suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir, scheduled for tomorrow, December 6. Humayun said, "The petitioners received an appropriate answer from the court's decision."
TMC had suspended Humayun on Thursday for announcing the construction of the Babri Masjid. Meanwhile, today Humayun reached Murshidabad's Boldanga Block-1 with his supporters. The mosque's foundation stone is to be laid here tomorrow.
