NISSWA — Nisswa residents and beyond have been abuzz after reading Facebook posts and numerous responses regarding Mayor Jennifer Carnahan saying she was assaulted during the City of Lights event Friday, Nov. 28.
Nisswa police investigated after Carnahan reported the incident and told an officer she wanted to press charges against Sophie Foster, of Nisswa, for assault for using her forearm to push into Carnahan, the police report said.
After receiving the police report, the city's prosecutor declined to charge Foster with assault, according to a memo from Severson Porter Law in Brainerd dated Dec. 2.
A special city council meeting was set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at city hall for "discussion regarding the conduct of Mayor Carnahan."
