The family of a "beautiful mum" who died after contracting rabies from a dog scratch have questioned the readiness of the NHS to handle her condition, a pre-inquest review heard.
Yvonne Ford, 59, passed away four months after being mildly scratched by a puppy during a holiday in Morocco. The scratch led to her contracting rabies and she died in a hospital in Sheffield on June 11, as reported by YorkshireLive .
Her husband, Ron Ford, and daughter, Robyn Thomson, attended the hearing at Sheffield's Medico-Legal Centre today (December 5), ahead of a full inquest next year. Due to the disease being categorised as "notifiable", six witnesses will be called to give evidence before an inquest
