A former doctor from Birmingham has been charged with multiple sexual offences involving 38 patients. Nathaniel Spencer, aged 38, faces serious allegations including 15 counts of sexual assault and 17 counts of assault by penetration. Additionally, he is charged with nine counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, and one count of attempted assault by penetration. These charges stem from a police investigation conducted by Staffordshire Police, which examined alleged incidents occurring between 2017 and 2021. The investigation was described as detailed and complex, focusing on offences at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley. Ben Samples, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the West Midlands CPS Complex Casework Unit, stated, "We have decided to prosecute Nathaniel Spencer for a number of serious sexual offences allegedly carried out against patients while he was working as a doctor - including assault by penetration and sexual assault against a child." He added that the prosecutors have thoroughly reviewed the evidence to ensure there is sufficient basis for the trial and that pursuing the case is in the public interest. Nathaniel Spencer, who resides in Quinton, is scheduled to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on 20 January 2026. The Crown Prosecution Service has reminded the public that the proceedings are active and that Spencer is entitled to a fair trial. They emphasised the importance of avoiding any reporting or commentary that could potentially prejudice the case.
