Orange Line service between Back Bay and Forest Hills in Boston is suspended all day Friday and Saturday for scheduled signal upgrade and modernization work.

The MBTA said Friday that the service disruption will allow the agency to continue signal upgrade and modernization work on the Orange Line, which ultimately will significantly increase operational efficiency and improve scheduling reliability for riders.

During the two-day service disruption , free and accessible shuttle buses will make stops between Back Bay and Forest Hills, according to the MBTA, which said that riders should budget ample extra travel time -- at least an additional 30 minutes on top of their regular commutes.
