Customers at Linda Viertel's new boutique in Downtown Canandaigua are greeted with bubbles floating down from a shelf as they open the door.

Mystic Mermaid Artisan Collective , located at 87 South Main Street in Canandaigua, is a space where magic and creativity intertwine, Viertel said.

The boutique features work from 17 local and global artisans, including paintings, jewelry, clay pieces, crystals, ocean-inspired glass, woodworking products, soaps and more. However, Viertel views her shop as more of an experience where people are united through art.

"I know what art does for me, and I heard the stories from friends about what art does for them," she said. "I wanted to get people together to create art, create community. We're all better together."
