SMITHFIELD – Let’s make a few things clear about the ongoing production of A Christmas Story that opened on Dec. 4 at Sky View High School in Smithfield.

First of all, this musical stage adaptation is lots better than the 1983 movie of the same name on which it’s based. You’ve probably seen the film. After all, the Turner Broadcasting Service used to play it all day long, back-to-back, on Christmas Day.

Yes, the current production is a reprise. The Four Seasons Theatre Company performed this musical in December of 2023 and this show is again equal parts funny and charming.
