The Lehigh Valley is set to lose another Staples store right after the holiday season.

Staples has announced it will close on Jan. 2 at 2180 MacArthur Road in Whitehall Township , a store employee who answered the phone Friday morning confirmed.

Currently, much of the retailer’s merchandise at the Whitehall location has been slashed up to 30%. This includes the majority of inventory with the exception of electronics and ink and toner products, the employee said.

It’s unclear if another retail tenant is poised to move into the space. Whitehall Mayor Joseph J. Marx Jr. and Deputy Mayor John D. Meyers couldn’t immediately be reached for more details, nor could a Staples spokesperson.
