RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Raleigh man pleaded guilty to the murder of his 5-year-old son in court on Friday morning.
On Dec. 31, 2023, staff at UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital alerted Raleigh police around 10:30 p.m. about a severe assault on a child.
According to a warrant obtained by ABC11, the boy had been beaten so severely that he suffered a brain hemorrhage. The child's father, Amir Devon Hines, who was 24 at the time, was initially charged with felony child abuse causing serious bodily injury.
The boy passed away the following day, Jan. 1, due to injuries sustained in the beating. On Jan. 2, Hines was charged with murder in connection with his son's death.
