ORONO, Maine (WABI) - The Stillwater River trail has been transformed into a holiday wonderland that opens Dec.5.

The lights will be on every night from 4 to 9 p.m. until Dec. 31.

Visitors can expect to see overhead lights, tunnels, wrapped trees and photo opportunities along the trail.

The event is free, but organizers have placed a donation box on the trail for those who wish to contribute to utility costs.

The display started small five years ago and has grown to feature hundreds of thousands of lights.

Organizers recommend visitors dress for outdoor conditions, as the trail terrain depends on weather.
