CHARDON, Ohio — The Geauga County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of one of its K-9 officers after an emergency medical condition Thursday evening.

K-9 Ash, born Jan. 4, 2022, served alongside Deputy Michael Wilson since 2023. The pair excelled in patrol work and were well known throughout the community for their professionalism and approachability, according to a post from the Sheriff's Office's official Facebook .

Sheriff Scott Hildenbrand, Deputy Wilson’s training group and fellow deputies expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Ash, describing him as a loyal partner whose calm demeanor and friendliness left a lasting impression.

Cremation services have been donated by Trusted Journey in Grafton, Ohio, which the sheriff’s office thanked for its generosity.
