The Omaha Fire Department responded to a house near N 28th Avenue and Iowa Street at 8:53 p.m. Thursday. The fire was declared a working fire at 8:57 p.m. and brought under control by 9:03 p.m.
The fire caused an estimated $35,000 in structural damage and $1,000 in contents damage to the home, which was valued at $200,000. Contents were valued at $5,000.
The Red Cross is assisting the occupants who were displaced from the home due to the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire department stated smoke detectors were not present in the house.
