LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A Laredo man faces multiple charges after police say he assaulted a woman and injured a child who tried to intervene.

34-year-old Jose Antonio Luna was arrested on November 24 following an incident at an apartment in the 2600 block of Monterrey St., according to Laredo police.

Officers responded to the scene and encountered Luna as he was about to leave. He was detained for investigation.

Police say Luna grabbed a woman by the hair and assaulted her. He then kicked her while she was down, according to the report.

When the woman’s 10-year-old son tried to intervene, Luna reportedly pushed the child, causing him to bump his head on a bed frame, police said.

Luna also tried to grab the phone from the woman when she attempted to call 911, according to police.
