TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Rep. Adelita Grijalva claimed she and her staff were pepper-sprayed by federal agents during a protest at a Taco Giro in Tucson, the site of one of many federal raids that happened across southern Arizona on Friday, Dec. 5.

Grijalva’s statement, which was posted to X, can be seen below. In it she said it happened at the restaurant at 610 North Grande Road, where 13 News saw federal agents and protesters.

“We just came up on a community that was protecting their people,” Grijalva claimed. “We had, I would say, maybe 40 ICE agents, most of them masked in several vehicles. That the community had stopped right here, right in the middle of the street, because they were afraid that they were taking people without due process, without any kind of notice.”
