The Boston Red Sox have made a few big moves this offseason. Early in the winter, they added Sonny Gray in a big trade with the St. Louis Cardinals. Soon after, they swung a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates to bring in pitcher Johan Oviedo, among others.
After the trade for Oviedo, the Red Sox made the tough decision to designate pitcher Cooper Criswell for assignment. This had to be a tough decision for the Red Sox, as Criswell holds a lot of potential as a swingman in the big leagues.
It didn't take long for Criswell to be claimed off waivers.
On Friday, ESPN's Jorge Castillo reported that the New York Mets claimed Criswell off waivers , promptly ending his time with the Red Sox after two years.
