NISSWA, Minn. — Prosecutors will not pursue charges against a woman who Nisswa Mayor Jennifer Carnahan said assaulted her during a city event on Friday, Nov. 28.

Nisswa police investigated after Carnahan reported the incident and told an officer she wanted to press charges against a Nisswa woman. Carnahan said the woman used her forearm to push into the mayor during the City of Lights event, the police report said.

After receiving the police report, the city's prosecutor declined to charge the woman with assault, according to a memo from Severson Porter Law in Brainerd dated Dec. 2.

However, Nisswa Police Chief Todd Szymanski confirmed Friday, Dec. 5, that the case was reopened due to an additional witness being identified. Information will be resubmitted to the city's prosecutor.
