TAMPA — It’s the holiday season and thanks to a group of volunteers, it’s even more evident at the Children’s Home Network group homes in Tampa.

When the children at the group home style cottages went to school Friday, the volunteers got to work.

They organized gifts, assembled and decorated Christmas trees and put up lights.

The goal is to make the spaces feel like a home for some of the most vulnerable children in the foster care system.

“For all of these kids, the holidays are especially important. They miss these attachments to home, attachment to family and recreating that family and home-like environment is a really important part of giving them an uplifting experience,” said The Children’s Home Network Exec. VP of Operations, Taylor Cheeseman.
