St. Joseph’s Hospice plans to open a three-bed rural location by next fall at Lambton Meadowview Villa, a Lambton County long-term care home near Petrolia.
Provincial funding to add three beds at a rural location was announced in January for the hospice which has operated a 10-bed residence in Sarnia for many years.
The rural hospice will be located in a ground-floor section of the long-term care home in Enniskillen Township originally used for respite long-term care beds, reducing the scale of renovations required, according to the hospice.
“This is the site we decided on because it had everything we needed,” said Kelly Chartrand, executive director of the hospice, said following Friday’s announcement.
“It was the perfect space for us,” she said.
