The United Way Emerging Leaders program is hosting an event Wednesday designed to stock up and pack cold weather and hygiene kits for the community.

The kits will be distributed through United Way 211 and The Cocoon, a United Way announcement said. United Way 211 is a free, confidential service that connects people to local health and human service resources. The Cocoon is a domestic and sexual violence shelter and advocacy agency in Wood County.

The Shelf Stocker Soiree is a 6 to 8 p.m. networking event at the Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center, 1225 Broadway St.

Instead of a ticket price, each attendee is asked to bring an “item of impact — such as, blankets, socks, handwarmers, travel-size hand sanitizer, and period products,” United Way officials said.
