GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) -The Gulfport Admirals football team received a campus-wide send-off Friday as they prepare for their first state championship appearance in more than four decades.

Students lined the halls with signs while community members brought flags and cowbells to fire up the team ahead of Saturday’s championship game.

“I’m just excited, like this is a moment I’ve never experienced, like a once-in-a-lifetime moment,” Wide Receiver Camden Morgan said.

It has been 43 years since the Admirals last competed for a state title, and Linebacker Javon Anderson says win or lose, they are making history.
