OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - Even if North Star Health Alliance couldn’t meet next week’s payroll, members of 2 nurses’ unions say they would have shown up for work.
“Our motto is: Work now, deal with it later,” said Mary Wilsie, area vice president of North Country 1199 SEIU.
The union represents hundreds of workers at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, who, up until Friday afternoon, didn’t know if they’d get paid next week.
The facility has been undergoing changes to its health care model. (It’s one of a few facilities run under North Star Health Alliance; it also operates Carthage Area Hospital and Meadowbrook Terrace in the town of Champion.)
