WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - People are getting into the holiday spirit - decking the halls with Christmas decorations inside and out. A lot of those decorations get plugged in.
“Everyone loves holiday decorations, but you want to make sure you’re decorating safely,” said Jared Paventi of National Grid.
What does he mean by safely? If your tree is real, keep it watered. Dry trees can catch fire quickly.
If your tree is artificial, make sure it meets safety standards. And when hanging tree ornaments, don’t do it from the lights themselves because it can wear down the wire, and maybe make them spark.
