GRAND FORKS — A Grand Forks County judge upheld the bond amount for an attempted murder suspect during a hearing Friday, Dec. 5.

De’Angelo Brent faces five charges after police said he shot 27-year-old Antonio Locke multiple times during an argument in August. Investigators said one round also struck a home with an 8-year-old girl inside.

Brent is currently held on a $250,000 cash-only bond. Friday afternoon’s hearing determined if that amount would be changed.

“The victim's statement does not match the witness statements so we have very, very conflicting statements, that’s really big,” said David Dusek, Brent’s lawyer.

Judge Donald Hager rejected the request to lower the bond, saying the facts of the case have not changed. If convicted, Brent could face up to 20 years in prison.
