FARGO — A local nonprofit it stepping up to help educators who are unsure if they can afford a home.

The nonprofit is called Teachers Home Project. The hope is to keep more teachers in local schools by educating them and helping them become homeowners.

This can be done by offering assistance with closing cost grants, as well as connecting them with banks and insurance companies that work with the organization.

Teachers Home Project is part of Giving Hearts and accepts donations from the community in an effort to keep teachers in the area.

Nikki Lamb said the project is her way of lending a hand.
