As a mother, I am devastated and heartbroken over what my son Tyrque Jones has been put through. He was publicly named, publicly targeted and publicly humiliated — all while the truth was known long before his release.

Watching my child be wrongly accused and dragged through the media has been one of the most painful experiences of my life.

This reckless handling of his name and reputation has put my son’s life in danger. People in this community now associate him with something he had no part in, and that false image cannot be undone easily. The emotional, mental and physical toll this has taken on him — and our entire family — is unimaginable.

We believe in justice. But justice must be based on truth, not assumptions, not pressure and not public spectacle.
