INDIANAPOLIS — Three days a week this semester, a group of University of Indianapolis students is finding themselves out of their comfort zone and on the stage.
The theater program added a new acting class specifically for the university’s Build Program, a support program for students with learning disabilities. The program offers tutoring, specialized courses and social activities for its students.
“This week’s (Build) lesson was on social norms and how you can’t really make a book on them because they’re so different and they’re not black and white for every situation, so learning what may be appropriate in one situation isn’t in another,” sophomore Kody Huston said.
Huston is finding learning those skills is also happening in the acting class.
