Don’t tell Indiana the Big Ten championship does not matter.

In a national landscape that has become obsessed with the “who’s in, who’s out” world of the College Football Playoff, the matchup tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium between the No. 2 Hoosiers and No. 1 Ohio State is old-school college football. It is two traditional conference foes, battling for supremacy in their region of the country and for the chance to hang a banner.

So, yes, it is true that regardless of the outcome tonight, the Hoosiers and Buckeyes, the only remaining undefeated teams in the country, are likely to each receive a top-four seed in the CFP and the first-round bye that comes with it. That does not mean, however, this game does not have stakes.
