NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina man's alleged armed antics led to an arrest on Thursday, and an incident that reportedly happened shortly after his arrest led to another charge.
The North Charleston Police Department said officers received a report of a man swinging a sword and a hammer in the Spencer Creek Woods area around 4:30 p.m. The department said arriving officers found 47-year-old Joshua Ellis Dorman of Ladson swinging a three-foot-long "medieval" sword.
Police said Dorman was swinging the sword in the roadway, but eventually "stabbed" the sword into the ground and surrendered after officers arrived. However, as Dorman was being taken to the Charleston County jail, police said he threatened to harm an officer.
