The organisers of a popular parkrun event have asked potential helpers to come forward after having to cancel the event this week as a result of a lack of volunteers. Swansea Bay parkrun, which takes place every Saturday at 9am, starting along Swansea Bay usually attracts hundreds of runners.

The free 5k community event sees people take part by walking, jogging, or running, or just to volunteer or spectate. Organisers say they were forced to cancel the event on Saturday, December 6, due to a lack of volunteers.

A statement from organisers said they were "extremely disappointed" to have to do so, and encouraged anyone who can help to run the event in future weeks to get in touch via e-mail.
