CLEVELAND, Ohio — In his second NFL start, but first game in front of the home crowd, Shedeur Sanders ran into a defense that showed him what the league looks like when there is film to study and time to plan.
In the 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Sanders completed 16 of 25 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown, but the Browns offense never settled in. The 49ers constantly changed the picture from pre-to-post-snap, rotated coverages, and forced Sanders to process with less clarity than he saw in his opener. Drives stalled, windows tightened, and the overall rhythm that showed up in his debut disappeared as San Francisco’s defense dictated the terms throughout the afternoon.
