India received a major boost ahead of the upcoming T20I series against South Africa as star opener and T20I vice-captain Shubman Gill has been officially declared fit to play. The clearance came after he successfully completed an intensive rehabilitation program at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).
Gill had been named in the squad on a conditional basis, pending his final fitness assessment. The 25-year-old suffered a whiplash injury during the Kolkata Test, which required hospital observation and an injection for pain relief. The setback forced him to miss the ongoing ODI series, raising concerns about his availability for the T20 internationals.
