A weeks-long search for a missing boater concluded Thursday when Maryland Natural Resources Police discovered his body near Taylors Island in the waters of Dorchester County, according to the Department of Natural Resources Police.
Lonnie James Johnson, 65, was discovered deceased on Thursday, around 12:30 p.m. by an aerial search after 21 days of efforts. Johnson was found on the northwest shoreline of Taylors Island, south of the the mouth of the Little Choptank River, police say.
Johnson left to go fishing from Chesapeake Beach on the afternoon of Nov. 13, and his 23-foot boat was found unmanned near Taylors Island the following day. The boat was found after tracking his cell phone location.
