Star-studded Mumbai returned to winning ways after their previous round loss to Kerala, by defeating Chhattisgarh by eight wickets, with skipper Shardul Thakur excelling with the ball and Ayush Mhatre hitting a half-century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Group A match on Saturday.
With one more round remaining in the group stage, defending champions Mumbai (20 points), having won five out of six games so far, and Andhra (20 points), who have also won five games, advanced to the next stage of the competition.
In their previous game, Mumbai had lost to Kerala by 15 runs. However, India all-rounder Thakur delivered an outstanding performance, taking 3/19 in three overs, resulting in Chhattisgarh being bowled out for a meagre 121 in 19.4 overs.
