Staffordshire County Council's Reform UK leadership has faced criticism after a decline in pothole repairs since taking office.
Between May and October, the authority filled 17,826 potholes across the county's roads, down from 21,013 during the same months in 2024 – representing a 15.1 per cent decrease.
Opposition politicians argue this drop has occurred despite favourable summer weather conditions and additional highways funding from central government.

They point to the Reform administration's introduction of fresh restrictions on town centre roadworks earlier this year as the culprit.
However, council chiefs maintain they have been adhering to the repairs programme and financial plan
