WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A suspect is in custody after a hours long stand-off in South Wichita.
The stand-off started just before 1:00 a.m. in the 2000 block of South Mosley, near Mt. Vernon and Washington.
Police say it started as a domestic disturbance involving a weapon between an 18 year-old man and a 42 year-old woman. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and has been released.
When investigators arrived on scene, they tried to make contact with the suspect but he refused to come outside.
SWAT and crisis negotiators were called and tried to talk to the man for several hours. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody around 6:30 a.m.
The department says there is no threat to the public.
