Police have discovered a body in the River Yare while searching for a missing woman near a university in Norfolk. Jill Grint, aged 79, was last seen near her home in Earlham at approximately 10.30am on Friday. She was described as wearing a blue coat, navy trousers, and navy trainers, and was carrying what appeared to be a yellow bag.

The body was recovered from the river in Cringleford after members of the public alerted emergency services. Although formal identification of the body has not yet occurred, Jill's family has been informed of the situation.

Norfolk Constabulary stated, "Police can sadly confirm that the body of a woman has been found in the River Yare in Cringleford. The discovery was made this afternoon (6 December 2025) in the river by members of the public. While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of 79-year-old Jill Grint who was reported missing yesterday in the Earlham area, have been informed. The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Authorities are continuing their investigation, but they have indicated that the circumstances surrounding the death do not appear to be suspicious. The community remains concerned as they await further updates from the police regarding the identification and circumstances of the incident.
