STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Freshman John Greenwald gave St. Peter’s the lead for good with a putback and later added a game-sealing three-pointer as St. Peter’s earned a 43-37 CHSAA Staten Island overtime victory over host St. Joseph by-the-Sea Friday in Huguenot.

Mikhial Lopez tied Sea’s Robert Johnson for the game high with 12 points for the Eagles, who improved to 1-1 overall (1-0 CHSAASI). Greenwald (two treys) and Ryan Tuite (three treys) added nine points apiece while Ben Terry chipped in with seven for St. Peter’s.

In addition to Johnson, Rick Leto had seven points for the Vikings.

After Johnson’s late regulation bucket forced overtime, he opened the extra session with another basket to give the Vikings a 36-34 lead 45 seconds in.
