Charlton Athletic have confirmed the tragic news that a supporter died following a medical emergency during their match with Portsmouth. The game at The Valley was initially suspended after 12 minutes when fans made officials and players aware of the incident.
Emergency treatment was administered, with the game ultimately abandoned around 45 minutes later. And now the Championship club have released a statement confirming the fan passed away.
A statement reads: "The club are devastated to report that a Charlton Athletic supporter has died following a medical emergency during today’s game at The Valley against Portsmouth.
