MIDLAND, MI – The Midland City Planning Commission recommended the approval of a conditional use permit late last month for a planned bed-and-breakfast. The approval came after a handful of neighbors voiced their opposition during a public hearing.

According to Midland’s Assistant City Manager Jacob Kain, the property at 1109 W. St. Andrews Road would house the city’s only bed-and-breakfast, if the project comes to fruition.

The petition for the conditional use permit was submitted by a member of the planning commission, Jamie Broderick, who entered into a purchase agreement for the property in February of this year.

Broderick recused herself from the commission’s vote and took a seat in the audience during the public hearing proceedings. She did speak during the meeting as the petition
